Ostrva needle

The Ostrva needle is a slender tower that rises at the top of the western slopes of Ostrava in the High Tatras. It is an popular climbing destination that offers beautiful views of Popradské pleso and the surrounding peaks. I offer you a guided climb to the summit with a UIAGM certified mountain guide on one of several possible routes. Description

Climb length:

  • 6 hours (from hut to hut)

Difficulty of climb:

  • The climb is not suitable for beginners
  • Very good fitness and climbing coordination required
  • Ascent difficulty is III UIAA
  • Technically demanding climbing terrain with very exposed places and climbing
  • The whole ascent is done with a rope

Equipment needed:

  • backpack
  • climbing shoes
  • helmet
  • harness
  • belay device for double rope
  • personal anchor
  • climbing clothing
  • food and drink 1,5 l/person
  • spare sweatshirt (polartec or merino)

What’s included:

  • guiding with a UIAGM mountain guide (the mountain guide has third party insurance and a valid UIAGM membership)
